In Applied Kinesiology (AK) and Specialized / Energetic Kinesiology (SK / EK) a very common way of balancing a muscle is using some specific Acupuncture points. In fact, each of the Primary Meridians has a tonification and a sedation point. These are stimulated to increase or decrease the Meridian’s energy related to the imbalanced muscle.
These points are Ancient Shu Points and are related to the Generation Cycle and Control Cycle of the [[5Elements]]. The tonification and sedation points are stimulated simply to bring additional energy into a meridian or reduce excessive energy.

There are two ways of using this points: the points can be stimulated individually or combined with other points to increase effectiveness.
Most often in Applied Kinesiology the main point is used individually, while in Energy Kinesiology the main tonification or sedation point is touched simultaneously with another point, followed by the stimulation of two additional points.

APPLIED KINESIOLOGY

If there is an Hypotonic Muscle muscle because of deficiency in its related Meridian, it will become strong with Therapy Localization/Location (TL) in the Alarm Point or directly in the Tonification Point. Treatment to strengthen the muscle is stimulation of the Tonification Point by tapping it with the fingertips.
Stimulation of a sedation point is done in a similar manner. This is used to lower meridian energy and is sometimes effective in helping reduce hypertonicity of muscles associated with the over-active meridian.

This is the list of the single Tonifying Points:

  • Stomach: ST 41 (Stream Divide)
  • Spleen: SP 02 (Great Metropolis)
  • Heart: HT 09 (Lesser Rushing)

ENERGY KINESIOLOGY

In Energy Kinesiology, more often, 2 pairs of Points are used. All four Points are Ancient Shu Points (called also Command Points):

  1. The first pair is composed by the Command Point of the “Mother” Element on “Mother” and “Daughter” Meridian, and this is based on the Shen-Generating Cycle.
  2. The second pair is composed the Command Point of the “Grandmother” Element on “Grandmother” and “Daughter” Meridian, and this is based on the Ko-Controlling Cycle.

For example, if we want to tonify the Psoas Major, that is related to the KI (Kidney Channel – Zu Shao Yin), that belongs to the Water Element (水 shuǐ), we have to hold simultaneously the first pair of Command Point in the Kidney Meridian that represents the [[Metal Element]] (that generates the Water Element according to the Shen-Generating Cycle, and is therefore called the “Mother” Element); together with the Metal Element Command Point of the Lung Meridian (that is the actual “Mother” of the Kidney Meridian). In this way, we will bring Energy from the Lung Meridian toward the Kidney Meridian. So, we will hold KI 07 (Returning Current) simultaneously with LU 08 (Channel Gutte).
Then, to control this process, and avoid an over stimulation, we have to activate the Ko-Controlling Cycle. Hold simultaneously the Command Point in the Kidney Meridian that represents the Earth Element (土 tǔ) (that controls the Water Element according to the Ko-Controlling Cycle, and is therefore called the “Grandmother” Element); together with the Earth Element Command Point of the SP (Spleen Channel – Zu Tai Yin) (that is the actual “Grandmother” of the Kidney Meridian). So, we will hold KI 03 (Supreme Stream) simultaneously with SP 03 (Supreme White).

When the two pairs of points are used for tonification or sedation, the kinesiologist begins by simultaneously touching, with a light touch, the first two points and waiting for the development of a simultaneous pulsation. Then the second two points are contacted until simultaneous pulsation is felt.
