Teide-Masca-Garachico-Icod

Venue: Monday April 3rd, 9:00 a.m. Hotel Vallemar. We will confirm the exact timing during the conference.

We will leave Puerto de la Cruz, towards the Teide National Park, going up through the Municipality of La Orotava.

We will cross the entire forest mass of the Orotava Valley, and we will make a brief stop at La Margarita de Piedra, for photos and to see the entire Valley from the viewpoint.

Then we will arrive at the Teide National Park, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, in 2007. Its summit represents the highest peak in Spain and is one of the most spectacular manifestations of volcanism in the world, and of course in the Canary Islands. From the geomorphological point of view, we will behold a wonder of nature. The structure of the caldera and the stratovolcano Teide – Pico Viejo are unique on the planet.

Although its value is not there, since the hundreds of cones, lava flows or caves that it has enrich its scientific and landscape interest, we will visit Montaña Blanca (located at 2373 meters of altitude), Piedra Pómez, La Ruleta, Los Roques de García, the Mirador de Llano Ucanca, until we reach Boca Tauce, Chío and Guía de Isora with its steep lands due to the volcanic activity that exists in the area.

We will make a brief stop at the Mirador de Pico Viejo, to enjoy wonderful views and, if the weather conditions allow it, we will see the Islands of La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro.

Once in the municipality of Guía de Isora, we cross the neighborhood of Arguayo, arrival in the municipality of Santiago del Teide, Mirador de Cherfe and descent to the hamlet of Masca (located in the Teno Rural Park), where we will enjoy free time.

We will take the road to El Palmar (Buenavista), until we reach the Villa and Puerto de Garachico, where we will have time to visit the old town. Then we will go to the municipality of Icod, to visit its Millenary Dragon Tree.

And we will finish our journey back to Puerto de la Cruz, bordering the municipalities of San Juan de la Rambla, and Los Realejos.
