A language system based on hands positions (like sign language or like mudras), whereby particular fingers touches specific points on other fingers while a muscle test is performed.
Hand Modes (HM) or Finger Modes (FM) were first described and introduced in the Kinesiological field by Alan Beardall D.C. in the 70\u2019s. The HM are finger positions that create a three-dimensional symbol, or shape, that generates a frequency. This frequency interacts with the body\u2019s energy field producing a kinetic change in muscle tone if it resonates or has a relationship with anything going on in the body. They are the \u201clanguage\u201d of Energy Kinesiology. Much like a radio tunes in a specific station by creating a frequency match, by putting fingers in specific connection with each other, HM have specific meanings that allow the body to communicate, via a muscle monitoring response.\u00a0
This discovery happened quite by chance. During a treatment session, Beardall had found a weak muscle, but suddenly the muscle turned strong without any correction. While attempting to resolve how this could have happened, Beardall noticed that the patient had several fingers touching. Retesting with the hand opened resulted in the original weak muscle. That hand position was able to change the muscle response! Starting from this discovery, Beardall has discovered hundreds of different HM through with he could dialogue with the client\u2019s bodies.\u00a0
Modes can be used to ask questions of the body about energetic imbalances that may be present. A mode producing a change in an indicator muscle when placed in the hands would be positive and indicate an involvement of that represented frequency with the body’s situation at that time. Modes care used to display a specific type of information. If we look at the somatosensory cortex, we can understand how relevant is a HM from a neurological prospective. Even if it seems a tiny movement with a small body involvement, it is actually a huge neurological activation. This is why, probably, in the eastern tradition there is a huge culture about Mudras, that can affect the body as much as yoga positions.\u00a0
At the beginning of the 80\u2019s Bruce Dewe MD and his wife Joan Dewe MA have compiled a comprehensive database of Energy Kinesiology techniques under the finger mode system, while Alan Beardall DC and afterwards Richard Holding DO, have developed an extensive number of HM in the branch of Kinesiology called Clinical Kinesiology.
If we see Kinesiology as a communication system, then Hand Modes are a way of making very specific questions to determine which correction use. Dr [[Sheldon Deal]], DC has introduced the idea of using specific points to find a correction (for example GV 20 (Hundred Meetings) for Cranial Faults, or SP 21 (Great Wrapping) plus KI 27 (Shu Mansion) for Blood Chemistry). Hand Modes are an expansion of using these Indicator Points.
Richard Utt, founder of Applied Physiology (AP) in 1986 has introduced the idea of using the combination of Hand Modes and Indicator Points to assess specific body areas or functions. See Formatting.
